NXP Lead Times Improving, Still Elevated

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released its year-end report announcing that global semiconductor sales totalled $335.2 billion for 2015, with logic as the largest product segment with sales totalling $90.8 billion or 27 percent of the total semiconductor market.


It was announced in November 2015 that ON Semiconductor and Fairchild Semiconductor had entered into an agreement for ON Semi to acquire Fairchild for $20.00 per share. This may not be a done deal yet. It was reported in late December that Fairchild’s board of directors received an unsolicited proposal from China Resources Microelectronics and Hua Capital at $21.70 per share. ON Semi has since extended the expiration on its original offer twice.

Lead times from NXP have improved from the levels seen in the second half of 2015 on most of their 3.3V and 5V logic families. However, most technologies are still elevated above some of the other major players in this product segment.

TI continues to run 6 – 8 weeks across all technologies, though a slight increase in specific single-gate devices is out to 10 weeks.

Lead times for linear are also stable, though there has been cases of extended lead times for DPAK and D2PAK packages out to 20 – 26 weeks for regulators.
