Marie Cabral, Director of Import/Export Compliance

Marie Cabral joined America II Electronics in November 2004 to build the company's Import/Export Compliance program. As the liaison between America II and government agencies including the Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs, and the Export Administration, Cabral describes her mission as "ensuring [import and export] compliance from the sales call to product delivery." To do this, Cabral interfaces with every facet of the company involved in international commerce and trade and has implemented a Compliance Improvement Program to establish processes and practices in response to America II's compliance needs.

With over 25 years of practical experience, Cabral truly knows her business from the ground up. As an aircraft maintenance crew member for the United States Air Force, Cabral earned her Shipper Certification for Hazardous Materials Transportation as well as a Meritorious Service Medal for her duty as a Hazardous Materials Specialist. Upon leaving the Air Force, Cabral joined Purolator Courier Service, where she was promoted from Courier to Service Supervisor and became the first female Service Supervisor at the company's Boston terminal. Cabral went on to serve as a Transportation Supervisor and a Traffic Manager within other industries before contributing eight years to the Rhode Island Export Assistance Center as an international trade consultant. In this position, Cabral evaluated businesses throughout New England for import/export requirements compliance and developed training seminars in response to their needs, an experience she will call upon to create compliance education programs and audits for America II. As a member of the International Business Team at the Rhode Island Export Assistance Center, Cabral received the President's Award for Export Excellence in 2000 from the Department of Commerce for her team's success in increasing Rhode Island's export activity.
